On Tuesday 27th February the 2025 Kent & Medway Food and Drink Awards are being held at the Chilston Park Hotel, near Maidstone in a brilliant celebratory ceremony.
The awards presented by the KM Group and sponsored this year by DDS International, aim to celebrate the work of restaurateurs, chefs, small business owners and volunteers throughout Kent and Medway.
This year we are back and sponsoring the Tearoom/Coffee Shop of the Year category and ahead of the awards our energy consultant Sally Paterson visited each of the finalists to say hello and hear all about their businesses.
Lineham and Coffee, Rainham
Owner Amanda has been running the hairdressers for five years, however three years ago her husband John gave up his job, trained as a barista and now sells his coffee from the same location. This popular cosy spot in Rainham is brilliant for popping in for a new hair do or a coffee. John prides himself on the coffee he serves to his customers and loves creating a welcoming environment for those who want a friendly chat as well as a great hot drink.
Owners Anastasia and Klaudia both own this charming tearoom. It’s the perfect mix of vintage elegance with tasty delights. Originally an old storage space, they refit the area into a tearoom in March 2024. The tearoom is within the old airfield too, hence the name. They also have a onsite creative workshop that has upcycled furniture for sale, as well as offering art & craft activities that run throughout the year.
Owner Dave Hills opened this modern space in June 2024. It’s a hit with the local community with lots of tasty treats on offer for its customers. We loved that when Sally visited, two of staff members were wearing t-shirts with Dave’s face on. Plus they have beautiful branded Notion Coffee Lounge mugs that were made by one of their customers.
